Love and Mellow Drama: Love Trials II by Manali Desai

Love and Mellow Drama: Love Trials II by Manali Desai—Do you ever just feel giddy while reading the book and suddenly lose all interest as it comes to the end? I don’t really feel it that often, but this time, I just don’t know how to feel about this book at this point. When I started reading Love and Mellow Drama, written by Manali Desai, I was enthralled by how the story was unfolding.

The book opens with Varun and Gayathri being the college sweethearts, with their brothers being best friends and a common bridge between them. It was such a sweet and happening book. I totally loved it all, from their first meeting to them sharing their sweet-nothings. Their chemistry had my heart. ESPECIALLY THE BOND BETWEEN ABHI AND GAYATHRI WAS MY PERSONAL FAV. Being someone who admires friendship the most, they were my absolute favorite.

Oh yes, about the characters? First comes the protagonist, Gayathri Kulkarni, a total filmy girl who is immensely in love with dancing. She loves dancing as much as Remo D’Souza does. XD

On the other hand, we have Varun Aggarwal, the mature one. He’s actually someone you’ll love the most throughout the book. He UNDERSTANDS her, RESPECTS her, LOVES her, WAITS FOR HER. I don’t know what else you expect from a guy who’s willing to give his life to you and he quite LITERALLY gives his life for her.

One thing that stung me while reading the book was when it talked about Covid-19. Honestly, this might be the first book I’ve seen so far that actually talked about coronavirus and how one actually feels staying so far from their loved ones and being so helpless to not be able to do anything for them. When Gayathri got the call about her father, I literally had the chills remembering all the stats we used to watch on the screen during those days.

Another notable fact is Manali’s writing style. It was truly commendable. Like it’s so easy to read through, I didn’t have to be like what the he ll does this word even mean or what was even the need to write this which usually happens with me (bcoz I’m truly very judgy T-T).

Coming to the end, well, the book actually ends with the motto of women empowerment, with Gayathri being the founder of SHE ROSE–A platform for everyday SHEROES. However, I would have loved Gayathri’s father and Varun by her side while she stepped forward, taking this huge step in her life.

I’d like to share some excerpts I loved the most in the book with y’all:

“Life can be boring or exciting, depending on how you choose to live each moment.”

“When your goal is to take center stage, why dance like no one’s watching?”

“If two people really want to be together, nothing and no one can come in their way.”

“Alvida kehne se phir milne ki Umeed marr jaati hai.”
{Saying Goodbye kills the hope of meeting again.}

“Happily Ever After isn’t a myth. It is a reality; albeit a bittersweet one and something you need to find, create and sustain yourself.”

“Don’t make your life all about being a mother. You have to be a wife, too. More than that, you have to be yourself as well. We’re more than just wives and mothers.”

Apart from the bittersweet ending of the book, it surely falls under one of my favorite reads. I mean, I have no idea how I’m gonna deal with this, but yeah, Varun owns my heart. You’ll know what I’m talking about once you read it. Tap here to grab your copies of Love and Mellow Drama: Love Trials II by Manali Desai.
