When I Am With You by Durjoy Datta – Book Review

When I Am With You by Durjoy Datta – This book by the bestselling author, Durjoy Datta, is literally worth reading. “When I Am with You” is a story about child whisperer Aishwarya Mohan and Crypto Expert Dhiren Das. While Aishwarya is someone who deeply loves kids, she deeply despises the concept of marrying just for the sake of having kids. Dhiren, who claims to be the biggest ‘Harami’, is an expert with technologies and software.

Both belong to dysfunctional families and despise the idea of ‘having families’, but fate has different plans for them. Aishwarya faces hatred issues with her mother, while Dhiren hates his parents for killing something he ever wanted in his life. It’s incredible to see, that even after all the hatred they faced in their lives, they still held so much love in their hearts. The way they cared for each other, for accomplishing Aishwarya’s dream, and their love for children, all of it is portrayed perfectly.

And honestly, this is one of those books that “teach” you something new, as I learned about the term ‘intrauterine insemination’. Like for real, I laughed so hard when I read this and the fact, that I still can’t pronounce it in one go makes me laugh harder. This is just proof, that every book is important, and every book teaches you something new LOL.

Not to forget Durjoy’s obsession with accidents and making my heart feel like shit. The moment Dhiren got to the hospital was the most challenging part for me. Seeing your favourite person getting bedridden and that too being treated like a criminal is the worst part a reader can face. Well, while he gave us this torturous moment, he gave us a happy moment as well. Aishwarya met Sonali Raj, Sonali’s daughter loving Aishwarya’s drawings and Sonali loving Aishwarya for the kind of person she is. It was the best and happiest part of the book.

It is amazing how cricket and children are the two things that started Dhiren and Aishwarya’s story and how these two things only become the sole reason for their patch-up. Not going to give more spoilers and fast forward to the ending, I totally love it to the core and I cannot decide what is better, the story or the fact Durjoy wrote it. (I am biased toward him, no argument on this LOL.)

The way Dhiren and Aishwarya’s characters are portrayed in the book is just amazing. The thing that makes them amazing is that they don’t lose their strength throughout the story, no matter what they face, they don’t lose their originality even a bit.

I never thought only one book could make him my favourite author. After reading When Only Love Remains, it was hard for me to stop reading more by the writer. His way of using the words is just amazing. I am so glad to read his work and I would highly recommend them to you at any time of the day.
