Her Last Wish by Ajay K. Pandey

Her Last Wish by Ajay K. Pandey – Her Last Wish is the story of an average, middle-class, introverted guy whose parents expect him to excel in the IAS exams and land some government job. But then, is it ever that easy? Just like any actual guy, this happens to be an impossible challenge for Vijay.

Vijay is an extremely introverted person who prefers hiding his feelings, never complaining about his situations to anyone, and never taking a stand for himself, but things changed when he met Astha – the shine of his life. I totally love how her presence – which others think was very dominating – was influencing Vijay and ended up boosting his confidence, making him trust his decisions, helping him take a stand for the first time in his life, and I can’t even count how many firsts he had in the time they spent with each other.

Her Last Wish - Read WIth Sonal

In most parts of the book, I was expecting her to get cured and survive the challenging disease. Days before I was on some mafia audiobooks but I don’t think I can remember what part of those books is going to stay with me, but when it comes to books like Her Last Wish, the over-emotional books, they stay with me for my entire being.

One thing that I can say I utterly loved about the book was his love for Astha, and his stubbornness to fulfill her bucket list, which she said and I quote “was written when she was drunk like crazy!” And trust me when I say this, you will NEVER get the same level of satisfaction had this been done by any other fictional billionaire as it was in this book. In her last 6 months, completing her bucket list was the only thing on his mind apart from wanting her to live through her disease. And boy if his dedication to keeping her alive was even a cent percent less than his will to breathe for himself. IT IS SHEER LOVE AND NOTHING LESS!

Also, what are your thoughts on HIV? Coz apparently, I thought people were educated enough to understand that is it not contagious, at least not from touching or breathing the same air as them. But then, the book is almost 8 years old so I can’t really blame them but it still makes me angry to think how “scared” people are of being around HIV-infected patients. When you read the book, you’ll see how people tend to treat HIV patients like untouchables. It literally infuriates me like crazy. I so hope people are not the same now. I mean, we all need to get educated about such things, HIV IS NOT CONTAGIOUS BY TOUCH!

Oh, and that reminds me of another thing, WHEN SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HIV HE NEVER, I MEAN NEVER EVEN FOR A SINGLE SECOND THOUGHT ABOUT FINDING THE REASON HOW SHE GOT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE NEVER EVEN FOR ONCE DOUBTED HER! I MEAN WHERE DO YOU FIND SUCH MEN?? And this is a man WRITTEN BY A MAN, what better thing can you find? ToT

You people HAVE to give it a read and if you already have, please let me know in the comments what do you think about this book. Every character of this book is perfect in their perfect contexts. When I started this book, I wasn’t sure if I will even reach upto the end because I have been DNFing so many things, from books to movies to series. But not only did I finish it to the end but I loved it to the core. ToT
