Forbidden Love by Laiba Akhtar – Book Review

Forbidden Love by Laiba Akhtar – Book Review: Forbidden Love is a part of a trilogy – Love Series. The story revolves around Asma, a girl who’s forgotten how it feels to selflessly love someone and Zaviyar, the guy who’s drowning himself in memories of his late wife. It’s a story of how they both come over their pasts, share their deep scars and how they come close to each other while tackling their daily life issues.

Forbidden Love

To be honest, this is the kind of book that makes me feel alive, that makes me remember why I actually love reading. It’s not the story, not the characters, but the kind of writing that makes me fall for the book. I loved how easy it was to go through the story; the characters were so relatable, and the plots were indeed incredible and something that deserves consideration in our daily lives. Things like bullying, child abuse, insensitive taunts, rape, and whatnot.

And one thing I love the most about the book is that the author did not make the male character a hard-core alpha male. He’s just a regular guy who’s not afraid to show his emotions to his people. Someone who, even if he’s scared to let someone in his safety bubble, still lets people in and doesn’t act like he can do it all by himself and doesn’t need anyone around to solve his problems. And that made him even more loving…

Coming to Asma, well, the girl really got what she wanted and deserved… a happy ending with someone who doesn’t want to control her or bind her to his baby but wants her to explore the world and work. Not because they are short of money, but because he WANTS her to have a life of her own where she can do things for herself. After her whole life, hearing things like “Why do you want to work?” “You’re a girl, there’s no need for you to work…” having just one person who cares about what she wanted and thinking about her… I felt a rush of satisfaction on her behalf.

And the way he cares for her when she’s sick… bare minimum, but still feels like the most special part to me. AND WHEN HE GOT JEALOUS!!!!!! He didn’t take it out on her but let her explain what exactly happened! ToT

I just wish there was more of a conversation than the looks they shared and understood each other. I mean, as much as that is important, I still feel there should have been a little more conversation. But who cares, I still loved every bit of it. After a long time, I found a book that I can say I truly devoured.

And OMG, how can I forget Haadi ToT !!!!!!

He’s such a sweetheart! Kids are truly my most favorite part in any book. They just make the book 10x more special for me. His sweetness as well as tantrums – both were equally appreciative, and I just love him. 🫠

All in all, I loved the book in every aspect. However, I do feel that the subplots should have been discussed in a little more detail. That would have made them even more interesting and heartfelt. But anyway, the author did mention beforehand only that these cases were mildly discussed, which makes the book a cozy, beautiful read. 🫠💗

If you are looking for something like this, you HAVE to give Forbidden Love a read. I can assure you’d love it for sure <3
